Dentist confirmed what I suspected. Won't return my calls now.

Went in for a routine cleaning. Dr. N— (won't name, don't want trouble) does the X-rays, comes back, sits down, and says 'this is unusual, have you had reconstructive work?' I said no. She looks at me for a long moment. Then: 'this tooth structure has a secondary enamel layer I've only seen in — nevermind, I need a second opinion.' She left the room, didn't come back. Hygienist finished the appointment. I've called four times. She's 'unavailable.'

Secondary enamel layers are not a thing in human dentition. If she said that verbatim, she identified something outside the standard morphology. Request your X-rays in writing, today. HIPAA requires she release them.

Requested in writing. They 'lost the file.' I'm not surprised. The hygienist looked terrified when I asked.

the dental records route is how they identify us in childhood. that's why they prioritize shutting down the evidence trail at the dental level. not the medical. the dental.

Go to a different dentist. Different state if you can. Don't mention the first visit. See if the finding replicates. That's your proof.
Update: booked a dentist in Asheville for next week. Paying cash. No insurance paper trail. Will report back.
