6G and the Rise of Sarcasm Allergy in Adults Under 35
A frequency band rolled out in 2024 appears to be suppressing irony detection in a specific cohort.

The initial 6G buildout in the continental United States began in late 2024, with full metro coverage reached across a dozen regional markets by the end of the following year. The rollout has been discussed primarily in terms of throughput and latency. It has not been discussed, in any venue that reaches the general public, in terms of what it is doing to adult cognition.
Independent observers with backgrounds in RF and neuroscience have been tracking cohort-level shifts in a specific processing capacity — the detection and interpretation of sarcasm and tonal irony — across the period of the rollout. The shift is measurable. It is significant. It is concentrated in adults between the ages of twenty-three and thirty-five.
The mechanism we suspect involves a specific subcarrier at 142.8 GHz. The subcarrier has no listed commercial application. It has, however, a documented biological footprint. At the power levels deployed in urban 6G infrastructure, the subcarrier's interaction with the resting neural oscillations of the human prefrontal cortex is at the lower edge of what would be considered biologically active. At the cumulative exposure levels experienced by a resident of a fully-covered metro over a three-year period, the edge is no longer the point. The effect is.
Irony is a second-order processing task. The listener must first parse the literal meaning of the utterance and then, against context, infer that the literal meaning is not the intended meaning. Second-order processing is exactly the function the suppression appears to target.
The affected cohort reports, in observer-network surveys, an increased tendency to respond to sarcastic statements as if they were literal. The reports are accompanied by a second, more disturbing phenomenon: the affected cohort does not notice that they are responding literally. They believe they are understanding the statement as intended. The layer that would normally tell them otherwise has been attenuated.
The weapons-grade reading of this effect is that a population that cannot detect irony cannot detect propaganda. A population that cannot detect propaganda can be directed. This is not a subtle outcome. This is a governance-scale capability, delivered through a civilian infrastructure rollout, with no meaningful public debate.
Shielding is partial. The foil beanie attenuates the subcarrier at the crown; full-coverage options are available for the torso. We do not encourage panic. We encourage the restoration of cognitive redundancy. If you are under thirty-five, read something written before 2010. Notice what you used to be able to hear.
